We’re Lovin’ On Our Grads

We honored our graduates and their families this past Sunday at a graduation breakfast and in our worship gathering. It has been fun to watch each one of these very special kids grow up in our church family. They have not only grown in physical stature but in their personalities, character, and in their relationship with Christ. We are looking forward to what the Lord has planned for their lives!  Our desire for all of our graduates is in the following passage of scripture... “Follow the Lord your God and fear him; keep his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and cling to him.” Deuteronomy 13:4

Congratulations, graduates!  We love each one of you!

Papers are finished, presentations are done.

For Our Young at Heart

All of our wonderful “young at heart” (our senior citizens) are invited to come to the Lighthouse on Monday, May 21 at 1:00 p.m. to enjoy pie, coffee and games.  This will be hosted by the WHO group.   Tables will be set up and a wonderful assortment of games available to play.  We love all of our senior folks at PCEFC and would love a chance to show our thanks for all the wisdom they share.  Feel free to invite a friend from the community.

Men...This One's For You

Men, a four week…. yes, four weeks only, Bible study is being planned just for you on four consecutive Tuesdays in May from 7:00-8:30 pm in the church library on the following dates: May 8,  15, and 22, 29.  This will be a dynamic small group Bible study based on the bold fatherhood and family principles featured in the film Courageous (which was shown April 13 at PCEFC Lighthouse) and will help lead men toward living more courageously in four key areas: Responsibility: serving, protecting, and casting a vision for their family, Priorities: focusing on eternal things rather than what is temporary, Legacy: recognizing a father's potential impact as a godly role model, Faith: strengthening a father's identity in Christ, increasing in wisdom.

This four-week Bible study is designed to challenge you to live courageously for the sake of your family. Session topics include:

1.  Courageous Call: Fighting For Your Family
2.  Courageous Priorities: Valuing What Matters Most
3.  Courageous Legacy: Impacting Future Generations
4.  Courageous Faith: Standing For Christ

Looking Forward to Another Season!

We’re taking the bats out of the locker and  getting excited for another church softball season to begin! Tony Gonyea is organizing the team.  We have a number of players again this year but it is not too late to sign up at the Welcome Desk on Sunday or give Tony Gonyea a call.

Summer Worship @ PCEFC

New summer worship time starting June 3 will be at 10:00 a.m. Please note the change and look forward to a great summer as we grow in our walk with Christ and one another. There will be no Sunday School for the summer. Last Sunday for Sunday School is May 20.

Many Took The Challenge!

Our Response, a unified community effort to "respond" to global poverty, challenged the people of East Central Minnesota to take the 14% Challenge during the month of April.  The challenge was to reduced our food purchases (grocery store, eating out, etc.) by 14% during the entire month of April and donate the savings to fight malnutrition in Kivuruga, Rwanda. Then, at the end of April, people were to drop off their donation in an envelope marked "Our Response: 14% Challenge” at the PCEFC office or place in the offering plate.  Here's the results...  Our special offering for this nutrition project in Kivuruga, Rwanda was over            $ 3,000 ($3094.22 to be exact).  As Pastor Joel says, “So excited to serve with people who care about people!!!”.

From Steve Fredlund— “The people of Pine City Evangelical Free Church, led by your heart Pastor, Joel Preston absolutely blew me away!  Two main thoughts: 1) The generosity of the body of PCEFC, and  2) The impact $3,000 will have in a place where the average income is $240/year. This is participation in the restoration of this world; way to go PCEFC!"

Mom, thank you for bringing me to Awana...
When you find a note on your desk from a child who comes to our Awana program written to his or her mom saying, "Mom, I love God more than I use to. Thank you for bringing me to Awana"... it's all worth it!  Last night, was our Awana Awards Night.  It was so neat to see so many awards handed out... not for the sake of receiving an award but knowing that many kids have worked hard to memorize God's Word.  As children learn God's Word, it helps to build a firm foundation for their faith.  As they apply the truths from the scripture that they've learned, it will help them in their daily lives.

Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children. Children are evangelized and discipled as they discover answers to the question, "How does God want me to live my life?". Thank you, parents, for your commitment to getting your children to Awana each week and helping them learn their verses.  Below are a few pictures of a really great year but very busy year!  We hit the 85-90 number mark many nights!
