The Lord Our Shepherd
Message Series by Pastor Joel Preston
Psalm 23 contains a short yet beautiful portrait of our relationship with God. It promises comfort and protection to those who remain close to the Shepherd and demonstrates how our spiritual needs are met in the Lord.
It is the most beloved of the 150 Psalms and possibly the best loved (and best known) chapter in the entire Bible. The great Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon called it "the pearl of the Psalms." And Alexander McLaren wrote, "the world could spare many a large book better than this sunny little Psalm. It has dried many tears and supplied the mold into which many hearts have poured their peaceful faith."
This Psalm is a masterpiece throughout. While it contains only 55 Hebrew words & 115 English words, it is unparalleled in it's beauty as ancient literature and it's relevance for today's believer. Psalm 23 takes us through life and into eternity with a simple trust that "The Lord is my Shepherd."
