The Groom's Parents
At this time next week we will be rehearsing for the "Big Day". Our fourth son gets married and we are thrilled. We love our future daughter-in-law. Lisa fits right in.
It's different being the mother and father of the groom. Just one year ago we were mother and father of the bride. We were sweating it out a bit more last year. Really, our only responsibility this year was to invite everyone who has a part in the wedding to the rehearsal and Groom's Dinner. We sent out a little invitation that went something like this:
Please join the bride and groom
at 4:30 pm, Rose Garden, Loose Park
then it's off to the dinner at 6:00 pm sharp!
Semi-formal attire is all that is needed
with laughter and love you will be greeted.
Yes, they will all be married off. Are we done being parents? The answer is "no". We have never seemed wiser than what we are to our married kids right now. After all these years they actually ask us our opinion, and then they stick around to wait for the answer. Amazing!
So if you think about it, please bring us before the Lord in prayer as our family and friends make the big trip to Kansas City next week. Thank you. Above is a picture of Dave and Lisa.

at Grindstone Lake Bible Camp
- Walk through Creation, day by day, in the Bible and teach our campers the truth about the creation of our world.
- Provide our campers with hands-on learning experiences with animals and other living creatures that will allow them to see first-hand how amazing God’s creation is!
- Offer biblical answers to some of the questions kids ask about evolution and our world . .. “What happened to the dinosaurs?” … “Did Earth begin with a “big bang” cosmic explosion?” “Does science contradict the Bible?”
- Make the Creation Center the nucleus for our nature elective.
In the Creation Center, we will have stations set up that will teach the days of Creation. We have 6 baby Nigerian Dwarf goats (and 2 moms) that the kids can bottle feed, 4 hens, and 3 different aquariums with different species of fish and turtles, several bee hives and several taxidermy animals including a beaver, red fox, turkey, pheasant and a deer.

Asking for your prayers
Through World Servants, Lisa Steven is heading to Crow Agency, Montana for the eighth year in a row. Sunday, we will be commissioning Lisa in the worship service- entrusting her to the Lord as He works in and through her. Lisa will fly out the morning of June 19 and will return July 13.
In asking Lisa what her responsibilities have been each year, she states, "My responsibilities at Crow Agency are setting up and organizing the work projects, buying all the supplies, community relations, lead training for all the teams, present evening message, organize the meals, assign work projects, guide the teams in VBS, nursing home visits and with a carnival, along with many other tasks. My title is Crow Community Specialist and Mission Leader for World Servants. My teams consist of: 48 the first week, 37 the second week, and 22 the third week. Teams arrive on Sunday morning and training starts at noon on Sunday. Teams work on projects, do VBS and nursing home visits on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The carnival is Tuesday evening. I take the teams around to see the local sites on Wednesday. As you read above I will need much prayer because the days are extremely busy and my responsibilities are great.
Note: World Servants provides a short-term mission experience that organizes people in a community around a common task that benefits the broader community around it. Their desire is to develop people as both servants and leaders in the their everyday lives. They believe these learning opportunities will result in the transformation of individuals and communities across the globe. Their mission statement is "to mobilize a global network of people to impact the world through Jesus Christ by responding to physical and spiritual needs."

"I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities." -Dr. Seuss

Sarah Vandeberg started her summer internship as PCEFC Youth Director today (Tuesday). She is excited and looking forward to this summer position, and.... we are so very excited to have her! Sarah is a third year student majoring in philosophy with a minor in mathematics, at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Sarah is a home-grown kid! She has attended Pine City EFC her whole life, being active in our student ministries.
Sarah has many things on her heart and mind that she would like to share with the youth. She hopes to encourage them to further growth in their relationship with the Lord. Some points that she hopes will be elevated above all this summer are- the incredible importance of the gospel message in all of our lives, the enlightenment that comes to each of us from a better understanding of who God is, and the point that diligence is needed in our study of Scripture.
Pray for Sarah and our teens as they head into the summer. Pray this will be a time of growth and spiritual development. Welcome Sarah!
