A Joy to Show the Love of Christ

Having a wonderful time here in Rwanda! Thanks to everyone for all your prayers and support for this trip. God is blessing in an amazing way! First, I got to meet my sponsored child, Josiane & yesterday I got to worship with the African believers - what a humbling and joyful experience. I even got to preach! I am so impressed with World Vision and the work they are doing. Thank you Lord for being able to have a small part in showing Christ's love in a practical way and sharing the gospel with the people of Kivuruga, Rwanda! Keep praying for us... and I can't wait to see you Sunday!

Our Response Team Arrived Safely

Pastor Joel and the rest of the team arrived safely in Rwanda yesterday, around 2:00 pm our time. Thank you for your prayers. Below is a picture of Joel and Mark Coughlin (another pastor) checking in at MSP Airport.

"Our trip is off to a perfect start with everyone meeting at Eric and Nicole's (except Carol who met as at the airport on her way from another trip!).  We packed, ate, and starting talking about Our Response and the trip (what a fabulous team).  We arrived at the airport with perfect timing (actually ran into Bob Johnson at the airport who is one of the Our Response board members and original travelers in 2009).  The flights & layovers all went perfect from Minneapolis to Chicago to Brussels, Belgium and finally arriving in Kigali, Rwanda the evening of October 20.

We met Charles who is World Vision Rwanda’s Donor Liaison to U.S. Donors; he will be with us on the entire trip and is just fabulous.  Several of us also enjoyed some Rwandan cuisine while sitting on the outside porch of our Kigali hotel.  All of us are working on our gizmos to keep you updated and to say hi to the ones we love.  I was able to video skype Chris, Ryan & Annie and call Tracy.  Even when I am in Rwanda, I have a rad family!

Will get to be soon as we are getting up to have breakfast, meet with National World Vision Rwanda staff, go to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and drive to the hotel near Kigali where we will be staying.  There are a couple pictures to show a bit of our trip, but certainly many more will be coming!  Thanks for your prayers and encouragement on our journey."

Becoming a Woman of Purpose

There has been a fantastic turn out for the Ladies' Bible Study on Tuesdays!  The purpose of this study is to encourage women to respond to God  in their walk with Christ and equip women to make disciples who will impart the world for Christ, echoing the heart of Christ. The study guide which is being used to help study the Bible is written by Cynthia Heald entitled, “Becoming a Woman of Purpose”.  It's never too late to start attending... Tuesdays, 1:30 p.m., South Campus, Library.

Senior Soup Sunday Spectacular


If you or your spouse are 65 and over, you are invited to attend a soup luncheon this Sunday, immediately after the service… please stay for soup and salad, fellowship and music. We just want you to know that we appreciate you and that you are an integral part of the body of Christ. May you be blessed as we serve you lunch and as you fellowship together with others.

Students Challenged to Have a Passion For Christ

A fabulous time was had by all at the Grindstone Lake Bible Camp Youth Retreat! Even though it was Pine City High School's homecoming weekend, it worked great.  Some kids left on Friday afternoon, others left right after the football game, while others left for the retreat on Saturday morning. God used Pastor Joel's messages to speak to so many hearts about having a passion for Christ!
