Two Very Special People
faithful in serving!

We are so grateful for Wayne Smith and his love for our children and church family. There is rarely a time that you won't find Wayne at the front door greeting all those who come for Sunday School...young and old alike are greeted warmly. Thank you Wayne for giving all of us joy-filled memories as we enter for Sunday School or worship... your laughter is heart-warming and love for the Lord is evident to all.

Harriet Moulton is another senior that we love and appreciate! Her love and enthusiasm for people and life is catchy! She has a gift for making people feel welcomed and loved! Thank you Harriet for many words of encouragement you've given to so many over the years. We are grateful for you!

They're Back!
Our students piled out of PCEFC vans at about 4:00 pm Sunday afternoon from the North Central District Student Conference in Rochester. They were tired but excited about the great speakers they heard and fantastic music. It was interesting because our kids were encouraged to pursue a life of holiness (which is exactly what we heard in our Sunday morning message at PCEFC). They were encouraged to meet with God in a way that will change their lives permanently. As they stepped out of the vans and met with their waiting parents, Jack had everyone gather to summarize the challenge, to pray and to encourage them to hold fast to the growth that took place in their walk with Christ this weekend. Thank you for your prayers for the wonderful kids God has given us (we have a neat group of kids!) ... we're so proud of each and everyone!

Jack survived...

A quick word of encouragement...

They're On Their Way!

EFCA District Student Ministries Conference
“The Encounter” April 25-27 in Rochester, MN

This weekend our students will hear speaker Bill Allison challenge them to encounter the living God as he asks them what they think God wants to do with their lives and if they will allow Him to do it. By using Isaiah 6:1-8 as the focus of scripture, our students will be encouraged to search their hearts and take a look at the sin in their life that grieves the heart of God. They will be encouraged to confess those sins by name, asking for forgiveness and knowing that God forgives and takes the guilt of those sins away according to Isaiah 6:7. Pray for our students as they will be encouraged to encounter the living God in such a way that will mark their life in a permanent way. Worship will be led by Christian artists from popular singing group By The Tree.

A Weekend Transformation
of the Lighthouse

There was a quick step in everyone’s gait this weekend as we were all busy with the transformation of the Lighthouse to accommodate over 200 Pine City High School students at the 2008 Senior Prom. It was a fun event for Pine City EFC to host. Thank you to all who helped! Below are some faces you will recognize.

Highway Clean Up (Rescheduled for tonight)
Hey everyone… men, women, and kids (10 years and older), are getting together for highway clean up on Thursday, April 17 at 5:00 pm. It’s that time of year again and PCEFC has committed to keeping clean, a section of the freeway between Pine City and Beroun. We will meet at the Lighthouse and drive the vans to the area.

Reserve A Spot To Help (This Saturday!)
Call Janet Hawkinson at 629.6045 or Adrienne Roubinek at 629.2227 to reserve a spot helping at the Second Harvest Pine City Surplus Food Distribution through Ruby's Pantry on Saturday, April 19 starting at 7:00 am. We will be distributing the food from the vacant Car City dealership across from the Pine City High School. This distribution is partially funded by our Pine City EFC’s Hometown Mission's Fund. You can help in a number of ways, such as directing traffic, registering participants, handing out food, breaking down cardboard, and/or assisting participants in carrying their groceries to their cars. Please join in... put your faith into action!

A Note of Thanks

Thank you to all of you who have volunteered to deliver meals in the community this month. This is an important service to our community.... it means for some, one hot meal that day and having someone stop to say "hello". Thank you!

On Wednesday night our Jr. & Sr. High students and 56ers went to serve with Kids Against Hunger an International Food Relief Campaign. (Kids Against Hunger is a nonprofit organization with the mission to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and to feed starving children throughout the world. This is being achieved by getting volunteers involved, and by setting up food packaging satellites in the USA, and through partnerships with humanitarian organizations worldwide - enabling Kids Against Hunger to deliver its specially formulated rice-soy casserole to starving children and their families in more than 40 countries).
As reported by Chris Johnson... "The Cambridge/Isanti High School lunch room was transformed into an assembly line of filling and packing bags of rice for distribution overseas. Much organization took place as they placed us at different stations. We each had to wear a hat or hair net. The first station was filling empty bags, first by placing empty bags under a funnel, then we added one cup rice, one cup dehydrated chicken (protein), one tablespoon dried vegetables, and one tablespoon of chicken flavoring. The bag was then removed and placed in tubs to be taken and weighted for accuracy. Then off to removing the air and sealing bags with a hot press. The bags then went to a station to be counted, 36 to a box, where they were packed and sealed in boxes and labeled Kids Against Hunger. There were hundreds of kids and adults all working together, some of us were not with people that we even knew, but everyone worked well together. It was great to be apart of something that would benefit others, it was an awesome feeling." Here are some pictures...

“My Name is Daniel”
A Musical Production This Weekend

Jeremiah and Vanessa Gamble will be performing the newest musical from Theater for the Thirsty, “My Name is Daniel” this Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 pm at Pine City EFC, Lighthouse. There’s a lions' den and a fiery furnace... No, it's not "Survivor: the Musical”… it's a new take on the story of Daniel– complete with a "Sound of Music" parody. Directed by Jeff Miller (formerly of "The Refreshment Committee"), featuring musical arrangements by Michael Pearce Donley of "Triple Espresso," and accompanied by a mysterious third cast member…don’t miss it!
